‘Share Happiness’ and help promote literacy this Holi with Vodafone in Uttarakhand & UP-West

UP-West March 18, 2016: The colourful festival of Holi is about spreading joy and happiness all around. Taking forward this tradition, Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecom operators has decided to use the festival of colours to brighten the lives of children by launching a unique initiative “Share Happiness” in Uttarakhand & UP-West. Share Happiness is an initiative to facilitate and contribute to promote literacy among children and reduce dropouts.

Residents of Uttarakhand & UP-West can help share happiness by visiting Vodafone stores located in Dehradun, Agra, Meerut, and Bareilly and donate their old school textbooks and comics. The books collected will then be handed over to the NGO partners for less privileged children. The initiative is open for all to participate from March 18 to March 31, 2016.

Lack of basic amenities such as books force children to drop out of schools. This initiative is in lines with Vodafone India’s effort towards creating a sustainable and better environment. The initiative aims at catalysing literacy drive in the region and to bring thousands of less privileged children closer to education.

Announcing this initiative, Dipankar Ghoshal, Business Head – UP-West, Vodafone India said, “Sustainability is one of the core philosophies of Vodafone and that makes this initiative even more important and central to its beliefs. It is a manifestation of Vodafone’s commitment to bring smile on the faces of people and extend its support to the society. The activity is pertinently timed with ‘Holi’ as it is celebrated as the festival of colours. Sharing and contributing a little joy in someone’s life will make the festival even more colourful.”

“We are making use of our retail footprint in the region to facilitate this initiative. We are confident that this initiative will see an overwhelming support from the people of Uttarakhand & UP-West and together we will make this endeavour a success” he further added

Vodafone will be reaching out and inviting people to participate in the campaign through various platforms including SMS push, Email campaigns, Radio, Digital and Social media activations.
