Being a romantic at heart, designer Raman Khanna’s spring summer collection'16 is inspired by romance and thus he showcased long flowy gowns in light breezy fabrics and pastel shades, very delicately embellished with stones and thread, a perfect for the season.

SBJ gave an opportunity to the visitors to meet the designer and view his couture collection; from opulent lehengas to modern-day minimalist silhouettes. With the unveiling of the collection by Raman Khanna, he said “My collection celebrates the female form and makes her feel feminine yet confident. The latest bridal collection is also all set to make any woman feel and looks like a maharani from the golden era”
He quotes from a British novelist "Romance is the glamour which turns the dust of everyday life into a golden haze’
In his ensemble she transcends into a different world of royalty, he uses rich fabrics with embroidery techniques such as 'dabka mukesh aari etc. to adorn the lehengas and odhnis. The colour palette is mostly of vibrant reds and gold adding a sophisticated modern feel to the garments.
"The collection has brought traditional trends back to India. It is good to see the techniques such as dabka mukesh aari." Ethnic look is back in fashion so is gotta pati work, mukesh, sequins, stones in dabka and resham, crystal and Moghul motifs in understated shimmer. Patch work in solid colours is also in trend and for the contemporary women, says Vandy Mehra, Director, SBJ.
Flowing fabrics, exquisite detailing and dramatic drapes came together at this exotic preview to create designs that are alluring, unique and oh-so fabulous! It was a happening preview indeed filled with the best of luxury fashion.

A fashion designer with over 25 years of experience in Indian formal wear and couture, Raman Khanna experiments and takes inspiration from the rich Indian heritage and craft to elements from nature. His collections are a combination of rich and royal colors, exclusive motifs and diverse textiles.
