Inspiration - textures from jewellery are the inspiration for embroideries, textile selection and placements.
Silver filigree work, with inserts of pearls and small crystals. Beaten silver cuffs, collars, hemlines, chunky chokers, ear-cuffs palm bracelets etc. Sometimes modern, minimalist, conceptual jewellery. Sometimes Tibetan, Mongolian, Central Asian jewellery. Dark almost tarnished silver with inlays of turquoise, coral and other stones.
Character - Light tones of silver .Small, delicate motifs, lighter and finer embroidery materials. Some sheer elements. A wispy feel. Moving on to ensembles with an industrial finish. Rather than motifs, these ensembles rely on surface techniques using cooler, experimental components. DESIGNER PROFILE
Kiran Uttam Ghosh has been a part of the Indian Fashion Week from its inception in 2000 and through the years, having also presented her collection at Rome Couture Week with a well received ramp show.
She trained with British designer Jasper Conran in London. Kiran is a designer who has defied categorization. Her clothes are understated, with silhouettes and characteristic textures that refuse to be bracketed by terms such as Eastern or Western.
God is in the details for her. There are designers that balk at boundaries, both in terms of their products and philosophies. Designers who make their mark and then stick within that comfort zone, refining and re-working essentially the same elements: safe, professional, but a little predictable. And then they are those who are forever pushing the boundaries, testing themselves with flights of imagination that result in brilliant new forms, edgy combinations of style and fabric and that take creativity to new levels.
