Jaisalmer, 17 March 2016: As part of the Government’s focus on the energy-efficient lighting program, EON Electric has been gearing up to light the streets of Jaisalmer with LED streetlights. The company has been appointed by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to manufacture, install and manage the streetlight electrification, ahead of President, PM Modi and his Cabinet colleagues’ visit to Jaisalmer for ‘Iron Fist’ – IAFL’s biggest air fire power show.
Elaborating on EON’s achievement, Mr V P Mahendru, Chairman – Eon Electric Limited, said: “It’s gratifying for EON Electric to be associated with the Government-sponsored Energy Efficiency Services Ltd project to replace conventional streetlights with energy efficient LED lights in Jaisalmer on the occasion of the dignitaries visit to the city. The Government’s initiative to conserve energy via replacement of conventional lights with LEDs is a great step to support the national objective of 24x7 power for the Nation.”
Although Jaisalmer is part of the 20 cities project in Rajasthan awarded to EON Electric by EESL, EON has completed the installation program in a record time. Earlier this year, Eon Electric secured the Rs 40-crore contract to install LED streetlights in Rajasthan. Under this project, Eon will install more than 1,20,000 LED streetlights across various cities in the state, including Jaisalmer, Gangapur, Sri Ganga Nagar and others. In this phase, high lumen (minimum 95 lumen/watts) streetlights are being installed to improve road lighting and enhance street visibility and safety for road traffic.
