East India Trust Verdict: Samsung Mobiles ranks 1st, Sony 2nd, LG ranks 3rd by The Brand Trust Report

Kolkata, India, 3rd March, 2016: India’s much anticipated and most rigorous brand evaluation, The Brand Trust Report, a comparison of the trust held in brands, has been released for 2016. Samsung Mobiles leads East India as the Most Trusted Brand followed by Sony, LG ranks 3rd and Nokia 4th in the East. These four brands also lead the All-India rankings. The 5th position is held by Fever 104 FM which has leaped a whopping 151 ranks from its All India Listings. Honda secures East India’s 6th position and Titan is East India’s 7th Most Trusted Brand, up 23 places from its All-India rank. Bajaj at 8th is down one place from its All-India position and Hindustan Times, on 9th position, is up 103 places and Hero Motocorp is ranked 10th in the East.

Of the 41 East based companies in this year’s report, 24 brands have fallen in their All-India rankings. Some of these brands are ITC (Diversified), Berger Paints (Paints), Classmate (Notebooks), Emami (FMCG-Diversified), Boroline (Bath/Beauty), Keo Karpin Hair oil (Haircare).

The Brand Trust Report, the sixth in its series, is the result of a comprehensive primary research conducted on the proprietary 61-Attribute Trust Matrix of TRA (formerly known as Trust Research Advisory). This year’s study involved 18000 hours of fieldwork covering 2500 consumer-influencers across 16 cities in India and generated 6 million datapoints and 20,000 unique brands from which the top 1000 brands have been listed in this year’s report. The 200 page, hardbound report is available for Rs. 14000/-. The East zone cities include Kolkata and Guwahati covering nearly 17% of all the respondents.

Chandramouli, CEO, TRA, said on the occasion of the report’s launch, “Homegrown brand La Opala is a new entrant in the report along with Birla Cement which is also the leader in the Manufacturing category. Though the brands have fallen drastically in their overall ranking a few brands like IFB (Kitchen Appliances), Classmate (Notebooks) and Exide (Auto - Batteries) are leaders in their respective categories. The highest number of brands in the East is from the Bath/Beauty category with five brands - Boroline, Boroplus, Vivel, Fiama Di Wills and Fair & Handsome. It is followed by three brands each from the Biscuit-Diversified and the Jewelry categories.”

Among India’s 1000 Most Trusted brands, 267 categories were listed. The categories with the maximum brands were Food & Beverage represented by 152 brands, FMCG represented by 128 brands, Automobile represented by 72 brands and Personal Accessories represented by 52 brands.
