100 Year Old WFB Baird showcases the new Club Burgoyne range to Bengaluru

Bengaluru, February 10, 2016: WFB Baird & Company (India) Pvt. Ltd. - a wholly owned subsidiary of WFB Baird & Company, a 100 year old Irish entity and the pioneers & largest manufacturers of Irish Linen - announced today its 5 years strategy for India. James Baird, Chairman, said “In the past two years the company has seen unprecedented demand for our linen fabric brand Club Burgoyne. The Company has recently invested in new manufacturing facilities to meet this demand. Our market research has shown that this demand is set to continue as characteristics of linen become accepted by the Indian consumer.”

He pointed out that linen is the most comfortable of all the natural fabrics to wear, especially in hot, humid weather due to its absorbent and breathable nature.

Having a well-established customer base in Europe & America through customers like Marks & Spencer, Ralph Lauren, J. Crew, Brooks Brothers, Tommy Hilfiger &Calvin Klein to name but a few, WFB Baird has now set out their strategy for further investment in India on the back of continuing growth from Club Burgoyne& the largest fashion houses of India. This includes Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, Blackberrys, Fab India, Scullers, Colour Plus & Arvind brands from whom WFB Baird India won the Best Fabric Vendor of the year award in November 2015.

Peter McNutt, Director of Design for the Global business, shared his experience of working in India - “The most shocking thing for me was the incredible diversity of this country and its many cultures within cultures. Club Burgoyne was initially launched with a very International look which had to be adapted to meet the taste of India. This was done through the introduction of a hugely talented Indian design team who work closely with the International designers to create a perfect balance of Indian & Irish heritage”
