Usha sponsored Dr. Bharat Ram Open Sports Meet concludes with a gala prize distribution

New Delhi, 15th February, 2016: USHA International, one of India’s leading consumer durable companies sponsored Lady Shriram College’s annual sports meet as part of its brand ethos of encouraging an active lifestyle among the youth by supporting sports. USHA organized a sewing experiential workshop at the ‘USHA sponsored Dr. Bharat Ram Open Sports Meet’ to creatively engage students and other participants, introducing them to the technologically advanced USHA Janome Sewing Machines.



Kajol, a second year Economic Honours student of LSR College adjudged the winner in the USHA Janome Sewing Machine activity, was presented with an Usha Janome Sewing machine by Mr. Krishna Shriram, Executive Chairman, Usha International who wasthe honorary chief guest at the award ceremony. Justice Geeta Mittal was the chief guest for the inauguration ceremony.



150 gold, silver and bronze medals along with 30 trophies across ten (10) sports event were presented to the winners of the different games at the annual sports event that concluded on 13th February, 2016. The three-day event ‘Usha sponsored Dr. Bharat Ram Sports Meet’ of Lady Shri Ram College for Women witnessed more than 2000 bright and young  participants and 80 teams from various colleges of Delhi University and other universities participating in the event.



The sports event had ten (10) disciplines of sports ranging from Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Judo, Lawn tennis, Shooting, Table tennis, and Volleyball. Dr. Bharat Ram Sports meet is the only sports event organized by a women’s college that has both men and women categories. Additionally games were also organized for the teaching and non-teaching staff at the sports meet.  Connecting well with USHA’s ethos, the annual sports meet encourages young adults to actively participate in sports and inculcate a sense of team spirit, sportsmanship and commitment.



USHA International’s experiential zone creatively engaged students and other participants introducing them to the technologically advanced USHA Janome Sewing Machines through do it yourself sewing projects like greeting cards, mobile cover, card holders, hair clips and tic tac toe pouch. Equipped with Japanese technology, USHA Janome Sewing Machines like Memory Craft 9900, Memory Craft 350E, Wonder Stitch and Dream Maker 120 brought out the designer in participants. All the participants who unleashed their creativity using Usha Janome Sewing Machines were entitled to a lucky draw at the end of the three day activity. This activity got an overwhelming and very positive response from more than 100 participants.
