‘Switch 2016’ to focus on improving efficiencies in power segment

The power sector is likely to attract around $1 trillion in investments by 2030 according to the Minister of Power, Piyush Goyal, thus opening up huge opportunities for both domestic and international investors. The government is also working on a vision to turn India into an end-to-end manufacturing hub for solar panels.

To tap this potential, the Gujarat Government in association with the Department of Energy and Petrochemicals is organising an International Expo ‘Switch 2016’ from October 6 to 10 at Vadodara. The event will be to showcase to the world the potential of electrical engineering, power generation and innovation.

The international exhibition is designed to cover a large number of electrical products such as switch gears, cables, conductors and fibre optic wires transmission line technology, control and automation, transformers and other products as an emerging electrical market place.

Announcing the International Expo in Bengaluru, the Power Minister said it would be a platform for bringing in the best of technologies with focus on ‘Make in India’. The Expo would among other things focus on improving efficiencies in the energy sector which presently is plagued with huge losses by the time it reaches the end-consumer.
