•Chitralekha Das launches her designer saree label Sujatra, an eclectic range of contemporary & Elegant Sarees
•1st Exhibition of Sujatra Sarees in Bangalore to be held on 26th & 27th Feb at Jayanagar
While some thinks about retiring when they reach their 60s, she chose to chase her dream and stand out in the ever flourishing saree business. Mrs Chitralekha Das is a designer by passion has managed to combine simplicity and elegance and come up with her own range of contemporary sarees. Joined by her son, an IIM Calcutta Alumnus, and an Ex Marketing Lead for the Raymond Suiting’s business, both plan to take this venture to new heights. Her husband, Mr Biman Kumar Das has been equally supportive of her decisions and has been the backbone of operations and an important part of this venture.
Currently the business is based out of her Pune and she has managed to serve clients not only all over the country, but overseas to countries like USA, Kuwait, Malaysia and others as well, while she has been exhibiting her products across the country, they have recently launched their e-commerce website www.sujatra.com which showcases their latest work.
What makes the sarees different is their unique designs which is a combination of traditional works united with contemporary designs lending it a different character which is unlike any other product available in the market today. Starting from Rs 2500/- going up to Rs 12000/- the range consists of Chanderis, Silks, Cottons, Shiffons and offers hand painted sarees, Indigo prints, Sarees with kalamkari, Madhubani, Warli work and many more unique prints.
“It started as a hobby and now it’s my passion, there is no limit to creativity and age certainly is not going to limit my dream.” Quoted Mrs. Das.
Mrs Das has been showcasing her work at various exhibitions, in different part of the country and she is set to hold her first exhibition in the Garden city at Genesis art gallery at J.P Nagar on the 26th & 27th February.
