AED 400 million Art Deco-styled shopping complex to provide ‘refreshingly different’ leisure & entertainment experience
UAE, February 21, 2016 - Distinctly designed The Mall, a new shopping and entertainment destination located in the heart of Dubai’s Jumeirah District, opens today (Sunday, 21st February 2016) to offer a ‘Refreshingly Different’ experience in leisure and entertainment. An AED 400 million new retail precinct will redefine and set new standards in shopping, leisure and entertainment with debut of new fashion brands, innovative cafes and restaurants, and entertainment options. Moov Contracting, a leading Dubai-based real estate contractor for construction and maintenance of residential, commercial and government projects, made the announcement during a press conference held to inaugurate The Mall. The inauguration was attended by the company’s senior management, including Meadhad Rashed Meadhad Al Mehairi, Owner of THE MALL, Mr Obaid Saeed Bin Meshar, Chairman, Moov Contracting LLC; and Ms. Nancy Nese Ozbek, General Manager, The Mall.
Strategically located across the iconic Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel, The Mall will add a uniquely pleasing effect to the redevelopment of the Jumeirah’s façade with its lush Art Deco style architectural elements. Designed to receive plenty of sunlight through floral skylights, the retail facility also boasts of a splendid, signature water feature that drops down from the escalator leading to the first floor. The Mall spans 80,756 square feet of area, featuring shops on ground and first floors along with basement parking for 200 cars and valet parking service.
Mr. Obaid Saeed Bin Meshar said: “Dubai’s retail industry remains vibrant, which is further reinforced by the fact that the emirate has been named as the second most important international shopping destination globally after London. In fact, its retail potential of 2.4 million residents is valued at AED 63 billion and set to grow by 8.5 per cent per annum while it averages AED 1,000 per tourist which will get a further boost as the city welcomes over 20 million tourists by 2020.
Looking to play a key role in continued growth and evolution of Dubai’s retail landscape, Moov Contracting has inaugurated The Mall with a refreshingly new concept in shopping and leisure at Jumeriah district. We are confident that THE MALL will soon become the new meeting point for visitors, including residents, regional and international tourists for its idyllic location, branded fashion, lifestyle stores, food and beverage options.”
The Mall, which currently has 100% per cent occupancy, will have 66 units, including 7 kiosks in total. Aside from a gourmet supermarket for daily provisions, it will host tenants from 12 countries, including Lebanon, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Pakistan, Japan, Russia, China, the US and the UAE. Nearly 70 to 80 per cent of the retail outlets are being introduced in the UAE and the GCC for the first time. In addition, The Mall will house some of the leading names within the food and beverage industry. Lastly, the new facility will also accommodate a unique kid’s entertainment concept, financial services and a government office to ensure guest’s convenience.
