Manipal University and University of Chicago sign MoU for academic cooperation

Mumbai, 10th February: Manipal University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for academic cooperation with University of Chicago, USA in January. University of Chicago is amongst the top ten global Universities in the 2016 Times Higher Education World University rankings and University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine is a leading medical school in the USA.

The MoU was signed by Dr H Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor, Manipal University and Dr Kenneth S Polonsky, Dean of the Biological Sciences Division and the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago, who was represented by Dr Christopher Olusola Olopade, Clinical Director - Global Health Initiative, University of Chicago.



The MoU includes mutual exchange of undergraduate and graduate medical students for clinical observer-ships, faculty exchange for educational purposes, joint clerkships in practical field courses and allowing transfer of credits at both the campuses. One significant area of cooperation is in the area of pedagogy covering development of joint internationalized curricula and exchange of academic material and teaching methodology.



Dr. Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor, Manipal University said, “I expect that the partnership in academic cooperation would enable Manipal University to have access to the cutting edge research and work being done by University of Chicago in the area of pedagogy and teaching methodology in medical education.” He further added, “The faculty and students in our university will benefit significantly from this collaboration in the years ahead”.
