PMI’s Trivandrum Kerala Chapter & Chennai chapter jointly host the one day event witnessing largest gathering of project management professionals

Kochi, February 13, 2016: The Trivandrum Kerala Chapter & Chennai Chapter of Project Management Institute (PMI), the world's leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project management profession, hosted the second regional conference today at Kochi.
The one day conference themed, ‘Innovating Project Management for Higher Impact’ was inaugurated by Shri V J Kurian, IAS, Managing Director CIAL with a welcome address by Dr. Vikram Kumar B T, President - PMI Trivandrum Kerala Chapter and Mr. P. Ramasubramaniam, President Chennai PMI Chapter. Commodore G. Prakash, Indian Navy, the guest of honour, addressed the audience along with felicitating Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) for successfully completing the project to be a first fully solar energy-powered airport in the world.
The conference focused on innovative and creative adaptions of proven project management techniques that will yield better results, help organisations make a big impact in the country's economy and thereby lead to India creating a much higher impact in the world economy. The conference comes at a time when PMI’s Pulse of the Profession®: The High Cost of Low Performance 2016 report has been released. The report reveals that organisations around the world waste an average of USD 122 million for every USD 1 billion spent on projects as a result of poor project management practices. By effectively using project management practices, organisations can save 12% of their costs. The findings also highlight - organisations that effectively use formal project management practices waste 13 times less than the ones which don’t, re-iterating the value of project management practices.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Raj Kalady, Managing Director PMI India said, “With the onset of various nation building initiatives to create a better India, it becomes an imperative to put focus driven efforts along with a fool proof system that encompasses planning, streamlining efforts, continuous monitoring, controlling communication, better risk management, managing budgets, stakeholder management and other areas - in other words incorporating good project management practices. Project management is a profession of continuous learning and the gathering of industry leaders, visionaries and project practitioners during such conferences helps one and all to evolve continuously with the changing times.”
The conference witnessed industry views and invited speeches that focused on best project management practices adopted in India.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony Dr. Vikram Kumar B T, President - PMI Trivandrum Kerala Chapter said, “The effort behind conducting the second Project Management Regional Conference in Kochi is to provide a great forum for all the project management professionals and those who aspire to become project managers, to come, network, listen and learn from each other.
