Bangalore– ‘Terraa’, the newest online grocery shopping app, will now be available in Kannada, allowing a wide range of users to do grocery shopping from the comfort of their homes. This allows the app to be used by Kannada literates, giving a particular group of target customers the opportunity to shop in a language they are comfortable with.
Sethuraman Vaideeswaran, founder of Terraa says, “We understand that grocery shopping is a group behavior. In most households, it is usually the older generation that does the grocery shopping, and they are generally accustomed to referring to many foods and spices in their own language. Releasing Terraa in Kannada, a language widely spoken in Bangalore, will help enhance these group activities by making it easier for users to refer to certain products in a language that they are comfortable with. In this context, we have made identifying products easier by translating the staple products, and transliterating the branded products. Furthermore, we are looking to do the same as we expand geographically – once the app is available in other cities across India, we will cater to the local languages of those areas in order to have everyone participate and use the app at their comfort.”
Terraa largely uses its recommendation engine, wherein individual buying behaviors, locality patterns, and gender patterns are observed. This helps predict next items that can be suggested to the user to add to their cart, making their shopping experience easy. Terraa has partnered with Reliance Fresh and gojavas, to bring the best experience to its users, as well as leverage their expertise and market intelligence.
