College students visit US Library

AS part of practical interaction between students and the literary world, the English Department of Maharashtra College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai, organised a visit to the American Centre Library for the screening of the movie “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” based on a play by Tennessee Williams with the same title.

Around 17 students of Second Year B.A. (Englilsh Optional) led by  professors Ms. Shanti Polamuri and Ms. Rehana Vadgama to the US Library.

About seven students from  Burhani College of Commerce and Arts and 21 students from Wilson college also attended the programme.

Ms. Simran Nagra, the Coordinator of the event from the US Library, briefed about the event and took a round of the spacious library resources and the services offered by them. It was followed by the screening of the movie.

Subsequently, there was a lively discussion between Ms. Kakoli Ray (Consular Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Mumbai) and the students based on the similarities and differences between the play and the cinematic version of the play and the various themes and characters of the play.
The programme concluded with a guided tour of the library undertaken by Ms. Sitalakshmi Moopanar.
