The new year has started on a bright note for us with the Aditya Birla Financial Services Group (ABFSG) formalising their support for the Rahul Dravid Athlete Mentorship Programme. Guided by cricket legend Rahul Dravid, the programme is aimed at supporting India's next generation of Olympic stars. In addition to offering financial scholarships, the Programme also provides mentorship and quality career guidance to some of India's most talented athletes.
With support and close involvement from Rahul Dravid, this Programme, which began with 3 athletes in 2014, has grown in scope and reach. The Programme Advisory Board, comprising Rahul Dravid, Ajay Srinivasan - Chief Executive of Aditya Birla Financial Services, Girish Manimaran - Executive Coach and Leadership Trainer, and Nandan Kamath, met for the first time on the 4th of January in Mumbai to determine meaningful interventions and support for the athletes through the year. This meeting was followed by the formal announcement of the association by ABFSG. This Programme is focused towards giving athletes monetary grants towards their sporting needs, and includes pro-bono access to specialized career guidance, sports science expertise, injury prevention/management and allied services - all designed to help them at crucial stages on their Olympic journeys.
