Mumbai, 11th January 2017: Paula Radcliffe, current women's marathon world record holder, three-time winner of the London Marathon, three-time New York Marathon champion, and winner of the 2002 Chicago Marathon will now come to Mumbai as a commentator for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2017. After conquering the running world, Radcliffe is now confirmed to be a part of SCMM 2017 and will join Tim Hutchings as a commentator for the race. Her running prowess has earned her a lot of international accolades and awards and she is an inspiration to talented young athletes.

Suffering from exercise-induced asthma at the tender age of 7, Radcliffe persisted and was inspired to run after watching Ingrid Kristiansen run at the London Marathon. Radcliffe then went on to become one of the most famous faces on the marathon scene with numerous records and an unbroken world record timing of 2:15:25 hours which was achieved in 2003 at the London Marathon.

Former long and middle distance runner Tim Hutchings, has been associated with SCMM as a commentator for many years and expressed great delight in sharing the commentary box with such an inspiring runner and world record holder.
Tim Hutchings, Commentator Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon said, “Working on the SCMM is always a blast! The event oozes energy and the several hours of studio broadcast, despite the pressure and responsibility, absolutely flies by. This year, being able to sit alongside world record holder Paula Radcliffe, will be extra special and hugely informative; she has a mass of broadcast experience and can give us unique insights in to what the elite and mass runners are thinking at any one time, what tactically is astute or naïve, and sum up with her typical eloquence, what are the critical moments in the race. Her knowledge is literally second to none! Sitting alongside her, my challenge will be to not be too overawed by her words!”

In its 14th edition, the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon will see more than 42,000 participants come together in what has become the most awaited event on Asia's calendar. The marathon attracts professional and amateur runners alike, who run for fitness and social causes of their choice. The 2016 edition of the event raised INR 28.14 crores for charity in aid of multiple causes and the upcoming edition promises to raise the bar higher.

Vivek B Singh, Joint Managing Director, Procam International said, “We are honoured that Paula Radcliffe is coming back to India and this time for Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon. Paula will surely boost the atmosphere and running enthusiasts with her presence and vivacious personality. Her experience in the running world has made her the perfect fit for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2017 and we are extremely glad to have her here with us.”
